On Friday, April 28th at 3:30 PM, the community celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony of the roundabout at La Novia Ave and Valle Road in San Juan Capistrano. This is the first roundabout for the residents of San Juan Capistrano and Cal Trans District 12, and is bringing a much needed solution to the flow of traffic just off the northbound 1-5 Freeway.
The ribbon cutting ceremony featured Mayor Kerry Ferguson of San Juan Capistrano, representation from the City Counsel Members of San Juan Capistrano, California Transportation District 12, Taylor Morrison, Michael Baker International, Sukut Construction and Murow Development Consultants.
The roundabout replaced the prior five-legged stop controlled intersection that presented itself as problematic to the community. This project focused on improving the flow of traffic, safety for drivers and was designed to handle the increased traffic volume from the Taylor Morrison Pacifica San Juan development. To minimize the impacts to the traveling public, the roundabout improves the flow of traffic by allowing drivers to continuously move through the roundabout.
“This roundabout will bring real value to the current and future residents” said Brad Oien, project manager with Murow Development Consultants comments. “These upgrades will help bring a needed improvement to the flow of traffic to meet the needs of the growing community of San Juan Capistrano.”
