Ever heard of a bid being rejected for not being filled out on the correct form? It may seem unusual but in the world of Public Works bidding it is very common. The phrase Non-Responsive is extremely important when it comes to public bidding.
What is a Responsive bid?
Quite simply, the bid must be an unconditional offer to provide the goods and services that are being bid upon and the bid must comply with all the bid procedures that are set forth in the requirements of the bid documents.
Scenarios that could make a bid Non-Responsive:
- Not filling out the bid forms correctly
- Not Acknowledging Addenda
- Including Exclusions within your bid
- Excluding a portion of the work
- Not Turning in a Bid Bond
There are many scenarios that can make a bid Non-Responsive and unfortunately, something that may seem very minor can get a multi-million-dollar bid thrown out after hours and hours of work. So, in order to give your bid the best possible chance of being accepted, make sure to double-check and even triple-check that you have included all the requirements when submitting.
