One of the most integral aspects of the bond exoneration process is building relationships with the employees at the agency listed as the obligee of the bond(s) for your project. These relationships include inspectors, engineers planners, employees at the counter and anyone you meet associated with the project. The importance of building relationships may seem obvious, but the human element in dealing with bond exoneration can be just as important as finishing punch list work or filing the proper bond release paperwork. Navigating all levels of public government is necessary in order to be successful with exonerating builder’s and developer’s bonds. Not having these relationships in place can greatly hinder the bond exoneration efforts, making it more time consuming, costly and onerous to handle.
The MDC Bond Exoneration team has worked with over 30 agencies and has built solid relationships with them that we utilize to successfully see projects through to full bond release. The more you can familiarize yourself with the various agencies, the quicker your projects will be fully accepted and closed out. The agencies feel confident knowing that you are well-versed with their specific bond exoneration process. This will ultimately increase your chances of having your bonds expeditiously released and ensures the process can be duplicated on future projects.
